Rangers defeat Athletics 8-4 (AP)
Josh Hamilton homered and drove in three runs and the Texas Rangers moved over .500 with an 8-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night. The Rangers (29-28) have won 22 of 34 games since starting the season 7-16, and crawled over the break-even mark for the first time since they were 5-4.

Jennings undergoes season-ending elbow surgery (AP)
Rangers right-hander Jason Jennings underwent season-ending elbow surgery for the second straight year. Team physician Keith Meister performed the surgery Friday to repair Jennings’ right flexor tendon, manager Ron Washington said. The 2002 National League Rookie of the Year had the same surgery last August while he was with the Houston Astros.

Blalock out a month following wrist surgery (AP)
Former All-Star third baseman Hank Blalock had surgery Friday on his right wrist and will be sidelined for at least another month. Blalock has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 29 due to a torn hamstring. He recovered from that injury, then experienced wrist soreness due to carpal tunnel syndrome.
