Mariners-Rangers game postponed by rain (AP)
The game between the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers was postponed Tuesday by steady rain. The game will be made up when the Mariners return to Texas, July 23-25, with the date to be announced later. The Mariners had their sixth game postponed by bad weather this season.

Rangers designate Chen for assignment (AP)
The Texas Rangers designated left-hander Bruce Chen for assignment Saturday and purchased right-hander Willie Eyre’s contract from Triple-A Oklahoma. Chen has no record and a 7.20 ERA in 10 innings over five relief appearances this season. He gave up four earned runs in four innings during Friday’s 16-4 loss to Oakland.

Rookie Travis Buck hit his first career homer and drove in a career-high five runs to help the Oakland Athletics stretch their winning streak to four games with a 16-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night.
