    Emil Brown hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs to help the Oakland Athletics beat Texas 12-6, ending the Rangers’ season-best five-game winning streak Sunday. Frank Thomas drove in two runs to give him 1,695 RBIs, tying him with Cal Ripken for 21st all-time, and Mark Ellis had three hits for the A’s.

    The Rangers placed right-handed pitcher Kevin Millwood on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin on Sunday before Texas’ game against the Oakland Athletics. The Rangers called up right-hander Doug Mathis from Triple-A Oklahoma to take Millwood’s roster spot. Mathis is 5-0 with a 3.55 ERA in seven starts for Oklahoma, but will pitch in relief for Texas.

    Milton Bradley homered and drove in three runs as the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics 6-4 on Saturday night for their fifth straight win, despite having their shutout streak end at 33 innings. Texas pitchers had posted three shutouts in a row and the scoreless streak was the second-longest in franchise history.

    Texas right-hander Kevin Millwood left Saturday night’s game against Oakland in the first inning with a right groin strain. After throwing a pitch to Jack Cust, Millwood bent down and placed his hands on his knees. Rangers catcher Gerald Laird immediately signaled for the team’s medical staff. Millwood tossed a warmup pitch before exiting.
